About the Modern Falcon

The Falcon sets a new benchmark in the funboard category. Stable and buoyant, with a sexier shape and some performance hidden within the design, the Falcon is the perfect board for beginner-to-intermediates wanting a board that gets better as your skills improve.

OUTLINE: The wide point is forward to enhance trim stability from a central stance position, and the streamlined nose gives the outline a contemporary vibe. The back half of the board tapers steadily towards the tail for easier turning in smaller waves, and to heighten control in slightly larger waves.

CONTOURS: The rocker strikes a balance between paddle speed and just enough nose/tail lift for accessing steeper parts of the wave. Forward vee running to vee/double concave between the feet allows for very smooth rail transitions and a responsive feel when standing further back.

FOIL: Designed with plenty of volume through the spine for appropriate buoyancy and stability. The taper at the tips provides better performance sensitivity when riding on the wave face.

PERFORMANCE: The dual-purpose nature of the Falcon offers a stable and cruisy ride for surfers coming off a softboard or bigger longboard. Alternatively, more capable riders will find a surprising amount of speed a response when adopting a more aggressive approach.

Available in a broad size allocation in clear and tint options, the Modern Falcon is a reliable, and affordable board that will feature prominently in your quiver. Comes as a thruster with FCS II plugs and Performer Medium fins.

Construction: Polyester (PU)

Polyester or PU construction uses traditional materials and laminating techniques to produce a strong, reliable surfboard with high quality finishes. All polyester boards are CNC milled from the shapers files and laminated by hand using quality components such as Hexcel fiberglass, Silmar resin and Bennett foam.
For years traditional polyester boards have been at the forefront of performance surfing. These boards feature a progressive flex pattern controlled by a high-grade timber stringer and feel very reliable under your feet. Polyester construction will perform in all surf conditions and can be adapted to suit a wide variety of surfboard models.

I love this board it rides really well. Easy to catch waves with at my local break which is normally dominated by Long Board Riders and often has a small swell. It catches really small waves and easy to move about. I brought the 7’6 and i’m 5’9 (58kgs). I also have the Highline which i love too on bigger days and a Retro Long Board, the Falcon is a great in between board. My 7 foot foamie died and the Falcon has replaced it and i can see i will be able to progress so much more on this board. Very happy with the board. Thank you Modern.

Couldn’t be happier with the board as well as the service and advice I received. An incredible board that gets you on to lots of waves, is quick and manoeuvrable. Perfect board for someone moving from a soft top to a more intermediate board.

This board seriously punches above its weight!

I occasionally have back problems and needed something more chill during recovery. I've had a few different mid lengths over the journey, and despite its low cost and vanilla appearance, this board has by far been my favourite. Paddles well, catches waves easily, and has enough edge to dig in when you need to. It's also not as flat as plank so you can take off on steeper waves and enjoy a very easy turn initiation. I do have a very expensive, performance mid in my quiver, but to be honest, there is not much it can do that this board doesn't. Other than that... glassing seems pretty solid and its also pretty light for its size. The graphics won't win any competitions, but who cares about that at the price?

Thanks Jaco. The Falcon is a bit of a secret weapon for sure. The bottom contour really meets the surfer at the level and helps to encourage surfers to go a bit harder, as the board can handle it. Like all of the Global Surf Industries boards we work hard to make them great value for money.

I love my Falcon! I was riding a 6’4 Highline and found it too bulky and hard to turn but caught lots of fun waves so it had its season. Decided to change over the Falcon which is also a 6’4 and boy has it improved my surfing. I can now do small turns thanks to the thinner rails and narrower width. It’s still good to paddle onto waves since it’s still that bit longer fore a short board. I’m so happy with it and I highly recommend for those wanting to make the gradual move to a smaller board and but not wanting to drop the wave count. Great company to deal with also and all was well with the delivery. Thank you!

As someone transitioning from a range of traditional mid-length rentals, it feels so amazing to finally have a board to call my own. This board feels light and agile in the water making it easier to paddle out but still has enough volume and stability to pop-up easily. Definitely leans more towards performance-oriented over stable, but I'm still newer so take it with a grain of salt.

As advertised - great transition board for beginner to intermediate. Not to mention it looks sexy in clear with the minimalist branding & wood stringer. Beauty!

Whilst advertised as an intermediate surfer's board, as a long time older surfer I bought it as a more stable board when getting up, but a board that will turn really well when I want to. It's vee down to deep double concave and good rocker allows me to do that. At a glance this model may not seem it, but a closer look at its bottom contours shows it's skillfully designed with features of a modern high performance short board. I am impressed enough with this model that I bought two - the 6'4 and the 6'8. Great boards!!

Great to hear SB. You have picked it. The Falcon is pretty tuned up. We have just taken the bottom contour of the Falcon and dropped in into the new Highline 2.0 as well. Thanks for the review.

I bought 2 Modern Falcons 6. 4 for me and my son. I love mine so much I've just bought the 6.8. Bought first two in store, this 6.8 over the net. Scott was totally on the case in the chat messaging box and it took only 4 minutes for him to confirm the board was in stock, to sort shipping etc. provide me all info needed for then me to pay. Happy days

Amazing board, will be purchasing from this company again! The surfboard, fins, and pad came within days. I was copied by email into the shipment distribution and received my board in mint condition, with pre-emailed instructions of where to find my fins in packing. They really thought of everything from a consumer perspective. 20/10 would recommend!

Great board, catches everything but also turns well. My favorite board

When I picked up my board I thought the fins that are supposed to come with it weren’t included so immediately emailed the company asking them to send. Almost immediately I received an email back saying where the fins should be and I found them. If they hadn’t responded so quickly they would have gone out in the recycle bin, trash was being picked up in the morning. I’m very impressed with their follow-up. I’ve only been able to ride the board a couple of times but I’m sure I’m going to like it. It’s very responsive
