OUTLINE: Generous nose outline up front with parallel rails, leading into a wide tail. Having maximum surface area gives this surfboard amazing side-to-side stability so it’s perfect for beginner and intermediate riders as they jump to their feet.

CONTOURS: Flat through the nose helps with early entry into softer waves, vee into double rolled concave in the back half of the board means more capable riders can still make flowing directional changes.

ROCKER: Relaxed through the entire length of the board with gentle lift in the nose and tail. This allows the board to paddle exceptionally well, catch waves easily, and maintain forward flow even in the white-water, while still allowing the board to turn in a smooth arc.

FOIL: Boxy rails and a high-volume foil from nose-to-tail means this board will sit high on the water making it perfect for maintaining speed and distance in smaller conditions.

PERFORMANCE: Built using our SLX construction which produces a light, responsive, versatile surfboard that is very sensitive under foot and rides well in a wide variety of conditions.

Available in three key sizes, the Modern Double Wide is perfect for anyone looking for the stability and paddle power of a longboard in a more manageable size board.

This is the best board I have owned, it’s perfect.
It’s fun to ride and so easy, not to mention the “boost” fin I added.
So happy with my double I’m about to order an 8.4 for my wife.
Clearly not a huge wave board but we travel NSW amd Qld coast and for an old heavy retired guy it’s kept me surfing.
anyone watching the kids slide by should check out the double modern

Love this thing! I’m a full time surf coach and have been stoked to find this board easy to paddle and easy to turn! It does it all! Especially stoked on how light it is in the epoxy construction and think this adds quite a bit to the maneuverability of this sled!

Great board

I own 2 of these at 8’4” one in Nz one in Fiji .

I ride them as a 2+1 in weak as east coast to fat double overhead west coast all the way to 5ft cloudbreak in Fiji

No other board I’ve owned compares to the wave catching ability of these , it’s very addictive and I have a hard time grabbing anything else from my quiver ... I am regularly able to compete with guys on paddleboards for the best set waves with this board . It catches waves like a 10footer but then feels like it’s in the upper 7 foot range once you’re up and performing the big turns and cutbacks it’s capable of .

I absolutely love this board !

Disclaimer - the water is heavy at double overhead and you need to be smart with equipment of this size or any size for that matter .

I started surfing in October 2023 (aged 67!) and love it! I aim to be on a board into my 80's. Started on soft boards and wanted to progress. I sought something stable (I'm not an agile youngster!) and after plenty of research I bought the Modern Double Wide SLX 8'4", I was after the 7'4" but it wasn't in stock. I loved it, it paddles wonderfully, is easy to get up and ride - I'm now saving it for smaller swells as my 7'4" was delivered last month (bought from Willocks Surf in Geraldton) and I love it even more, got up first time, balance is great, paddling so easy and I'm more confident to take it out into bigger swells. It will be my board for a while, not sure what board I will go to next but reckon I have one more board in me before the joints give up!

I wanted to transition from a longboard to a midsize and I’m very glad I chose this one.

This board allows me to surf smaller East coast waves in St. Augustine, Florida. I weigh 210 pounds and it is so easy to catch & ride waves, I couldn't catch on other boards. The flotation is unmatched and it turns fast too. I had to buy a second one for my friends who always ask to borrow it when where out surfing. By far my favorite board. Most rides ever.

Great news Stan. Thanks for sharing your experience, the Double Wide is in a league of it's own when it comes to wave count.

Just love this Modern Double Wide 7'4" (71 liters) board, it is exactly what I needed, wish I had bought one years ago. Being SLX construction it is super light for its size and makes it easy to carry the 4 minutes walk to my local beach and nice and light underfoot when riding. I have recently moved from the Gold Coast to the Capricorn Coast and the surf is usually a bit smaller up here and this new board allows me to get out quite often although I also have a 7S Superfish 3 (also bought online from Global Surf Industries) and have been able to use that as well. This Modern Double Wide would also have been a great extra board for the Goldie too as the surf is more often pretty poor even for the 7S Superfish. I have read comments saying that people should purchase their surfboards from a shaper so you get the personal surf vibe but to tell the truth all my previous boards have been from shapers and they don't listen to you and just encourage you to buy what they want to shape and sell. I have had 2 boards from Chris Garrett (Phantom) and 2 from Stuart, among others, but neither gave me what I asked for. The surf boards I have bought from Global have been exactly what I needed and the advice I received form the staff on their chat has been spot on. Highly recommend this Modern Double Wide for smaller waves and Global Surf Industries for their advice and service.

I bought the 7'4" 72L board. I'm 51 and was looking for a board that was easy to paddle and catch waves with, but still had some fun to it once you were riding (didn't feel like a log under your feet). This board lived up to expectations and paddles like a dream and is still playful on the waves. Board was packed extremely well for shipping and arrived with no damage.
Save the box and packaging to reuse the next time you fly. Highly recommend.

I'm really happy with this board. It seems to glide onto a wave effortlessly, so I'm catching heaps more waves. It is a very stable board for a beginner. It is also nice and light to carry. Highly recommend.

Loved the 8'4" model. It was a wave catching machine and still performed really well. I really liked the blunt nose and the extra volume up front.

Bad luck...got run over on the freeway. So, I bought another one but dropped down to the 7'4" model.

Doesn't catch waves as easily on the outside (Galveston/Surfside) BUT man does it boogie. It was a dream at BSR Waco.

Best all around fun size board ever!!! I'm 70 and 170lbs.

I purchased the 7'4" Double Wide six months ago. I'm 54 years old and surf in New Jersey. Have several smaller boards of various volumes. The Double Wide is my favorite board. I never write reviews but I am so happy with it that I'd like to encourage others to give it a try. Most reviews and descriptions of midlengths claim they catch waves easily and turn easily, but the Double Wide really delivers. I barely have to paddle to catch waves with the Double Wide. I can make all pop up easily if I am late on the wave. I can't believe how well the Double Wide turns for such a high volume board. It seems to easily rock side to side when I'm laying on it and it feels the same way when surfing it. It's so much fun in any kind of waves all the way down to shin high.

I bought 3rd floor condo @the beach and my long board didn't fit in the elevator...and I'm too old to lug it up stairs. I bought a 8'4" Modern extra wide to fill my need for a shorter long-board. Got wet twice this weekend and the board was a joy to ride... some adjustments to the new length but hey, it fits in my elevator!!! The board purchase and logistics were a bit delayed by the pandemic ( a couple weeks wait time to order) but delivery was prompt and professional... and packing material did the job on the boards ride from China to US east coast. Global Surf staff on chat line were very helpful. All in all a great start.

Best purchase I've ever made - beautiful design, light as a feather, but with all the volume I will ever need. I have been trying different boards for 2 years and this is definitely the best.
