About the 3 Palms Board Co Due Back Blackbird
Three Palms Due Back surfboards are made using our tough Moulded Epoxy (MX) construction and are designed specifically for the rental market. This model uses the Modern Blackbird as its base shape. We have an excess of volume to make those early learning stages easy as it will be faster to paddle allowing you to catch the wave earlier. To become a better surfer you need to catch plenty of waves. This board is styled after a longboard so it will glide well.

OUTLINE: The 7″, 8″ & 9’0 sizes in the Due Back line are can be classified as funboard shapes, with full and generous outlines from nose-to-tail providing amazing paddle power and flow on smaller waves.
ROCKER: All boards are designed with lower rocker to make paddling easy and maintain forward momentum and speed, even in unbroken waves.
FINS: Fitted with FCS II plugs makes installing and removing fins quick and convenient for rental operators and surf schools
PERFORMANCE: Offering a large sweet spot across all models, our Due Back models require less effort from the rider to get the board up and going. These boards are a notch up from a softboard allowing novice surfers to gain confident riding on the wave face and start acquiring the basic fundamentals turning skills.

Bought this high volume board for those small swell days. had my first surf on it yesterday in clean 1-2’ point and it was super easy to paddle and very stable. What I was surprised about was it turns really well for a big board. Very happy with this purchase. The board arrived the day after I purchased it online and the service from Global Surf Industries was exceptional.
This is my first surfboard and I’m loving it. Apart from being gorgeous, I’ve found it much easier to get up on than even the soft boards I’ve been renting up till now. It’s light and easy to carry, it’s wide enough to make balancing easier and it’s got enough volume to make catching a wave easier.
My board arrived packed all in cardboard and that made me love it even more, no plastic in sight!
I love my board and will be spending a lot of time in the water this summer! Thanks so much for the pre-order advice and for making such an awesome board for beginners!

Only started surfing xmas 2024 and 50 years old. this board has made the experience to lean at my age very positive, easy to get up on and surf medium sized surf.

This is the board I should have bought 16 years ago when I started my surfing journey. I've always struggled on my 7'6'' board. Already I am getting onto more waves and finding it easier to paddle out and stand. It's not a magic bullet. It still requires practice and effort . But for the first time I feel I could finally become a surfer (aged 50)
I absolutely love this board. I've transitioned off an 8ft foamie to the 9ft and couldn't be happier. I wanted to start progressing more and I was failing on the foamie.
Now this board paddles like a stable boat, turns like a small car and has speed like a Ferrari!! For where I surf this board is the ultimate cruiser .

Board is all good, third surf out I had a wipeout and banged the fin against my leg and the fin popped out , which means I need to get a replacement. Would probably be better to have the screw in fcs fins rather than snap lock ones.
I'm so happy with this board. To put it in context, I'm a reasonably fit, 48 year old beginner. The board arrived in perfect condition. Firstly, well done to Global Surf Industries for how well they pack and ship. As far as the performance goes, I have had a couple of lessons and a few beginner sessions at the Urbn Surf park in Tullamarine using softies and even in perfect waves I've been a bit sketchy. As soon as I got this board, I went to Anglesea with a couple of friends who are very good surfers and I found this board so easy to paddle and managed to catch more waves than ever before. One of the experienced mates gave it a go too and commented that it 'feels like a fun board but turns like a short board' and was very complementary. So overall, I'd recommend this board to anyone like me just getting into the sport and I even feel like I'll keep using it long after my skills progress.
Firstly, the delivery of this board was excellent. Packaging was very well done and robust, with board in perfect condition once unpacked. As far as the board itself goes, I bought the 8ft. Fins were pretty easy to fit with no tools required. Just watch the 'How to' video on installing fins and you'll have no trouble at all.
For context, I'm a 48 year old beginner with pretty good fitness and have had a couple of lessons then a few beginner sessions at the Tullamarine surf park and Ocean Grove using hire boards and boards borrowed from friends. Even on perfect waves, I have been pretty scratchy. So this board arrives and I headed down to Anglesea for a surf with friends who are experienced surfers. I cannot express how good this board was for me. Very smooth and gliding, making catching waves so much easier than on anything else I've tried before. It felt light and fast when paddling which meant I was able to stay out there for much longer than I'd been able to before and catch more waves than I've ever caught before. The board felt so much more stable laterally when I popped up as well which gave me a lot more confidence. All up, I would highly recommend this to anyone getting in to the sport and even my experienced friends who tried it on the day were impressed by how they could turn it more like a short board. So I feel like I'm going to be on this board long term as it looks like it will serve my progression as my skills improve over time.
