The Gnaraloo Softshell Flounder Pounder combines shortboard performance into one of the most user-friendly softboard designs on the market.
SKIN: Thick Polyethylene deck and a soft slick skin on the bottom is super durable, yet soft enough to keep beginners safe.
CORE: Expanded polystyrene core with TRIPLE internal stringer system produces a rigid flex pattern that can be pushed hard through turns. Other softboards can over flex, but the integrity of the rocker is maintained in the Flounder Pounder bringing the feel closer to a traditional fiberglass surfboard.
CONSTRUCTION: Safe for all skill levels, the vacuum construction process eliminates hard or sharp surfaces, and prevents peeling or bubbling.
FEATURES: Leash plug with HD internal reinforcements plus FCS compatible fin boxes and flexible thruster fin set makes it fast and easy to hit the water, and upgrade the performance of the board with stiffer fins.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Construction
Softshell Construction
Boards with Soft Shell construction feature much more technology then the eye can see. They are a combination of materials designed to allow the board to perform to the highest levels given the constraints of the flexibility of the materials. All boards feature an integrated Fin System, 2 or 3 Wooden Stringers depending on the size of the board to ensure the board is stiff enough. A lightweight EPS core combined with a PE foam layer on the deck and a High-Density PE Slick that is mounted to a thin PE Foam layer on the bottom give the board an awesome feel in the water. Soft enough not to hurt should you fall on it but hard enough to handle the power of the waves. You can find out more about GSI’s surfboard construction on our surfboard construction page.

It’s meant to be a kids board but it’s not. Sit at the back and wait for those big sets. This board will take a 6ft wave easy. You’ll paddle in easier than anyone else. The construction is excellent too supports FCS fins. The only down side is that it does not support a back foot pad as the surface is not smooth like a fibreglass board. Please make one !!!!

My moko (grandkid) loves this board. Easy to catch waves and ride. Sometimes she even lets me have a go, and she’s right. What an awesome fun board

Awesome board for my 10yr old to learn on. Custom Service right before Christmas was excellent, and board was delivered in personal so as not to get caught in Xmas delays. Amazing!

We have a few of these for our school surf program. Great transition for kids progressing from longer softies. My own kids have two as well. Put hard fins in and they are definitely surfable for adults.

Love my 6'6 flounder pounder.
Middle aged, overweight, no fitness
Now I sit further out than short boards, catch the set waves and have a smile on my dial every session. Have heaps of crew ask, what are you riding?
This board has reinvigerated my surfing. The extra volume is my friend.

Just love it ! Was looking to get a soft board for summer . Went to the local shop and was looking at few boards , after an advice from the guys picked up 6 foot board . I'm in my early 40's , intermediate surfer . from just a board for small summer days it became my main board , improved my wave count so much and it is so much fun , i use FCS fins and it's works really well ! Will take it out for any days from small mushy summer days to 3- 4 foot winter days . More than anything i was really impressed by it's durability , It can handle a lot of beating !
It's very different to shortboard , it's heavy and cruisy ,But if you want to have fun , catch a lot of waves and have a board that will stay in one piece I would highly recommend it
