7S SuperFish 4

I love this surfboard.

Love the super fish . So fun to ride. Had a couple over the years and can easily jump back on my super fish anytime. Fast yet easy. Also love the spray designs.

I'm really enjoying getting out there and riding this board. It paddles beautifully, zingy and allows me to get on the wave. I'm in my late 50's & over the past 6 months or so, I have very been paddling for waves and missing more than a few. I'm now getting in the water most days on this board and having fun.

Part 2

Just wanted to update that the board is now art. My friend “Swifty” having so much fun and bummed about the lost board bought two…One for him and one for me. I’ve been riding the 7’ I have which is an outstanding board and as the 8’ gets going. My fitness is lacking and need to work on that to enjoy the ride. The 8’ for our intended purpose will be predictably excellent. Swifty plans to use as a quad and I will continue as a TriFin. Mike at GSI has been an excellent steward for the company and wasted no time in getting the order out. While I do appreciate the artistry of board building but boards perfect for intended use. Been surfing for 55 years. My time is limited and just want to have fun. This board guarantees it. I have four other boards for various conditions and when friends need a board. I let them ride the artistry while I ride the most overlooked board. Everyone wins. ✌🏽

My favorite board for big surf had its last day. Soon to be wall art, hurricane Lee rules the day. I will be picking up another 8’ 7S super fish 4. Don’t let the photo fool you. It was an absolutely outstanding board. All good things tend to come to an end. For now I’ll ride the exact board in a 7” configuration. You see, when you find something that works buy more than one and repeat. ✌🏽

Built a quiver from GSI 7s. These boards go great and have held up to loads of surf and travel.

Bought the Superfish from Overboard Surf after talking with Mark at GSI. Wasn’t even looking at this board but Mark (who also rides it in 7’6) gave it such a good write up , I thought I’d give it a go. Well, it’s big rig , but handles really well for its size. It gets me in easy, goes where I point it, and is a lot of fun. I don’t really gel with a new board for a few surfs but the 7s has felt comfortable from the very first wave I’ve paddled it into. I’ve had it in overhead surf and it’s fine. Not sure if it’ll grovel but I have other boards for that. I can even duck dive it which is a bonus! I think this is keeper.

Got a chance to use the board before returning to Alaska where of course I wont be surfing! Was amazing just like I remember the board since Iv had the same board for over 10 years just needed a new one. Nothing like going into a battle with approved weapon!

I’m 46, a surfer for over 30 years and still ride short boards.

initially bought the 6’9 eps on a
as I was having hip problems and my pop up was giving grief as a result. I also thought I’d use the board while improving my hip flexibility and for really small days. But I got on the board, and it was like an absolute bullet. I rode it for 18 months straight while my short boards got dusty.

A tanky wave magnet, it’s great when you’d struggle to get waves on a short board cause it’s either too small, or too fat. Now I see options for froth when I previously wouldn’t have bothered.

I generally surf it as a quad. Even before you get to your feet, the board has got you into second gear. You can take off super deep and cover so much ground. And the nice scoop in the back makes it super easy to turn so you either just squeeze your toe, or you can drive hard off the bottom.

With the longer rail on the bigger board , if you move your back foot just in front of the scoop it has quick a broad area to drive off the rail. And you can drive hard!!!

Owen style backhand carves, even full figure 8 forehand wraps are all possible. I’ve even done a few free fall reentries on the speed tank! The other day in small surf, on a backhand wave, I got myself in a ball at the back of the board and hit the oncoming section. Grommet hooted and told me I fully clocked it!

I’ve also taken it out in 6-8 north curly and it’s great for roll ins. Handled all the water moving up the face. And it covers so much ground!!!

Although back on a shortboard now with all the good surf we’ve had for months on end, the beast is often packed, and still comes out, especially if it’s small and I’m up for a quick lunchtime surf.

Hi gsi, have been testing quite a few boards from u over the years, loved the slx fireball, n lately surf a lot on the jive+ but what a blast I had surfing the dust off my 6.0 old superfish the other day, made me order the new spf 4 straight away😀

First surf on this board today, wow, amazing. Have been surfing a Mini mal for the last few years and wanted something that was good to paddle, manoeuvrable but most of all fun to be on in the water and paddled straight into the first wave I went for on it. Love it

Took my Superfish 4 to the Maldives and she performed in all conditions from 1ft slop to overhead barrels - my next board will by another Superfish. This board is a work of art 👍😊🌈

This was my first board , excellently selected for me by Nick at underground surf . That day 7 years ago changed my life ... I was able to go out and ride the 7’3 at 53L In the whitewash straight away . Now 7 years later my whole life revolves around surfing ...

7 years later and I still use this same 7 year old board when the conditions suit . I’ve ridden it on knee high east coast days up to triple overhead at namotu lefts , cloud break Fiji .

The board is a fast paddler , is stable and fast on the wave . I am often riding it as a quad but it rides equally well as a thruster . After 7 years of ridding with it still going strong ... I can whole heartedly recommend this board to you .

This board was suggested to me as a first board about 7 years ago from Nick at underground surf and it did not disappoint ! I was standing up on it from day one and that moment changed my life , it began what appears to have become a lifelong passion for surfing . It depicts where I holiday now ... who I spend time with ... how much I work ...

The board = Stable and fast

I still use it regularly 7 years later and my friends are always offering to buy it from me but I would never sell this one . It has taught me too much and taken me too far and still rips .

Good easy to ride and catch waves board. I'm 71 years and needed to move up to a more stable board that still carves. Have set up as a quad and has speed and good turning.

Just got an 8' SuperFish. This is my first hardtop midlength after surfing my 9' Surftech SoftTop for years, along with other comparable boards.

It's definitely more challenging to paddle and catch waves on, and to stand up on. However, I expected that, and I think this is inherently part of improving one's skills, which was why I bought it.

So far, I've been out three times, and have caught a number of waves, stood up on a few, and got an actual short ride at one point before stalling.. I was heartened to see this was all in fact possible for me. I do think this requires a somewhat larger/stronger wave than my longboard, or the board simply won't catch it.

More generally, the board is definitely sexier than my longboard, and therefore more inspiring/motivating. That, combined with the fact it's lighter and more maneuverable, will likely increase the frequency with which I hit the surf. (Getting the longboard to the beach is always a bit of a production, especially when driving somewhere. But the SuperFish fits inside my Rav4, and is my easier to carry to the beach.)

One thing I would note is that the 8'0 is fairly wide. (At 23", even longer than my 22" longboard.) I have very long arms, and can still barely get my right arm fully around it when carrying it. So unless you're okay balancing it on your head (also feasible), you might want to get a shorter/narrower version. Just try it on for size at the shop if possible.

(Giving it 4 stars for now because I don't really know exactly how well it will end up working for me. But I suspect it will be a pretty good board for me as I adjust to it. And make me a better surfer. The Longboard should seem much easier after having to dial this in, and I'll ultimately have a board for small days (longboard) and a board for bigger days (SuperFish). And maybe eventually an even shorter board for the biggest days.
